It was Euro vision song contest here in Europe last night Saturday 29th May

We watch the Eurovision every year makes for a good laugh, we love to try and work out what the songs are about from other countries, but last night out of 26 countries taking part only three where not in English :-(

Still it wasn’t to bad.

Our favourite was the song from Greece with there song opa. We didn’t have a clue what it was about, but the fun aspect was hard not to enjoy, we where yelling out Opa at the tops of our voice and dancing, we really enjoyed it and it looks like the rest of Britain agreed since we awarded Greece the maximum 12 points making them Britain’s first choice in the Euro vision song contest.

I had to laugh as I thought about all the other British house holds all singing along to Opa like we where, apparently where more English than we thought we where which is news to me since I don’t see my self as typically British. We don’t drink, We hate football and I’ve never been abroad for my holidays, nice to see deep down past it all we’re British through and though agreeing with the rest of England that Greece had the most enjoyable song.

Britain unfortunately came last in the Euro vision song contest, our song was crap and the young whipper snapper they got to sing our terrible contribution was awful, we sat in disbelief at the set and dancers accompanying the lad on stage.

Other countries had fireworks, flames, glass pianos and costumes with butterfly wing making a surprising appearance from behind their singers. What did Britain have on stage? some Boxes :-) that was it and on top of the boxes three awful backing singers that where dressed in costumes that made them look like they should have been attached to the front of a ship from an empire long passed, it’s lucky British people have such a good sense of hummer and can see the funny side of things ;-)

Germany was the all round winner, well done to them. Germany’s song wasn’t to bad it was my 4th personal favourite that night. I’ve listened to it a couple of times and it’s growing on me.

Britain is world renowned for our music industry, but we never catch a break at the Euro vision song contest we either get low marks because the other countries don’t like us or we sabotage ourselves by producing drivel.

Although Britain song wasn’t that good there was a lot worse which again as raised the question in Britain ( it does every year ), should we continue to take part in the Euro vision song contest. I personally think we should drop out since we will never be treated fairly, the prejudice is to strong against Britain from other European countries and unless your blind it’s plain to see year on year at the Euro vision ( we get the strong impression they don’t like us, loud and clear ) :-(

In England the Euro vision song contest has a bad reputation and if your unlucky enough to be chosen to sing in the euro vision it is seen as career suicide, you’ll never be taken seriously or work again in the British music industry.

So I guess on some level it’s our own fault, we don’t take it seriously. makes for good entertainment though once a year :-) .
