Got woke up this morning by my neighbour banging on the door to tell me my garden was flooded!
Water had surrounded my home and was up to the door due to heavy rain in the night, lucky the water didn’t get in too badly we had a puddle on the floor in the kitchen from the new back door we have fitted, but haven’t got around to sealing the edges since “hey what’s the rush it’s August, not like we’ll get flooded at the height of summer or anything” LOL.
Since we are renovating there was no serious damage to flooring in the house since we don’t have any yet, we’ve been brandishing a contemporary concrete floor for the last 4 years, so it’s just a case of bleaching the floor and letting it dry naturally.
Others on my street wasn’t so lucky and they did get water in their houses, the fire brigade was at one property for 2 hours trying to pump the water away from the house.
It was due to there being a lot of rainfall and the drains couldn’t cope with the amount of water flooding into the system.
The Fire Bridge was keeping an eye on our property since it was literally on the door step. The fire brigade cleared the drains and relieved the system and the water disappeared from our property naturally down the sewer, but where in store for more rain later today, so they have barricaded our doors with sand bags.
There has been a lot of thunder rain the last few days and for over 5 weeks in the UK almost every day it’s rained, but last night was really bad, it rained hard for hours, it’s been reported half the average rain fall for august fell in a single night.
I’m just hopping the drains can cope with the next barrage of rain that comes our way later today since we have 3 doors in our basement that are a potential flood risk.
Still I got to see my hubby in his Sexy Wellies.
