Marsh Harriers Fighting in Mid Air
Saw two marsh harriers fighting in mid air last night
We think they were marsh harriers they had whit bottoms, definitely big birds of prey, they tussled in the sky then fell to the ground with talons locked they fought on the floor for a minutes or so and then parted and flew off.
If it wasn’t for getting caught in the pouring rain last night sheltering under a big oak tree at Rigsby wood we would have missed it.
A Nice Deed Happened to us Today
Today we went to a Nature Reserve and as we where entering the car park, the diver of the car on it’s way out flagged us down and gave us a all day parking ticket
That was really sweet.
Saved us a couple of pounds, I wanted to pass on the good deed and to give it someone on our way out, but we where the only people in the car park when we left
I’ll have to remember to pass on the Love, who ever you where Thank You
Wild Baby Rabbit on my Garden
We had a welcomed visitor to our garden, a wild baby rabbit or at least I think it a wild rabbit, could be one someones lost but it does act more like a wild rabbit than a domesticated one, more skittish and fast than a pet rabbit which tend to be a bit more hoppy and sluggish in movement and temperament.
I have no idea what it’s doing this far up in Skegness, we live on a main road, but their he was sat eating grass on my back garden
My hubby put out a carrot and he’s took a liking to the apples I put our for the birds, he’s so tiny, but fast he’s like a blur when he runs.
First Hedgehog in Skegness
We saw our very first hedgehog in Skegness tonight lived here five years and at last we saw one on our nightly walk
The last time we saw a hedgehog was 10 plus years ago in Newhaven East Sussex, saw quite a few down south but here in the east Midlands we haven’t seen one until tonight.
No sorry we saw one in Grimsby 6 or so years when we went for a walk on a college grounds we wasn’t supposed to be their but we where passing and we let the kids have a run on the grass, we went looking in the undergrowth under some tree and saw a big hedgehog and a rabbits skull if I remember correctly.
Kestrel Photograph
I got a better picture of a kestrel than the one I posted a few days ago.
This time we were driving down a busy road and my hubby while he was concentrating on a fast road with a Sharp turn noticed a bird land on a telegraph poll in the middle of a farmers field luckily there was a farm track that led underneath the telegraph poll so my hubby drove down so I could get a picture.
Just caught it as it flew off, I only got one shot, but what a shot
I love my hubby and his hawk eyes
Swallow Chicks Video
Got a great little video of swallows feeding their chicks.
My arms got tired holding up my heavy camera waiting for the swallows to come back to the nest
Me thinks I should weight train again, I used to have big muscles.
I think their are 3 baby swallow chicks, not sure though as I didn’t want to hang around long, so as not to disturb them.
A quick glimpse is more than enough for me
Their very young must be only a day or so old, there cheep is very quiet we could barely hear it, that will change in the next day or so
, there are some swallows nesting in the eves of a bank down the road and they are loud there about a week old.
Kestrels on Skegness Beach
Awesome!, during an evening walk saw two kestrel’s and I got me a picture
Might not be a picture perfect image, but I’m happy I got myself a memento to remember what I saw.
I spotted what at first I thought was a couple of pigeons, but then I noticed their wing shape and pointed them out to my hubby, they flew passed the big wheel on Skegness beach and one of them landed on the wheel.
I thought I was lucky at that point to have got a ‘well rubbish’ photograph of a kestrel, but then it flew off to where the other one was hovering on the other side of the beach.
A Little Thing Made Me Smile Today
I’ve had one of those days today where I had to stay in tiding up, lots of boxes to sort out and my living rooms a mess, I haven’t seen my floor in three weeks
.
While I was ermmm… tiding up the bottom of my mug of tea
I looked out of my window and saw a young girl was taking a pictures of my garden and it made me smile
She was taking a photograph of one of my Bright red poppies.
Awesome
I went out later and spotted a lovely little bright green Spider and some weird tiny beetles on my daisies.
Pigeons Made My Day
Cheeky little ***** !
I put some food out in a bird feeder for the sparrows and a pigeons worked out how to get the seed out the bird feeder.
It made my day while I was chained to the kitchen making my hubby a cuppa tea, seeing it flying up to knock the feeder, so the seed would fall out for his mates on the floor, unfortunately pigeons are not well know for their intelligence and once the smart pigeon had left the other were just wondering around aimlessly waiting for more seed to appear on the ground, LOL.
Cheered me right up, I needed that today.
Darren Shan Tweeted my Birth of a Killer Book Review
Awesome how cool is this my favourite author Darren Shan read my book article, Birth of a Killer: The Crepsley Saga by Darren Shan and tweeted about it.
It’s not every day your favourite author visits your blog and Tweets about it
I’ve been Smiling like a Cheshire cat ever since, a really happy moment in my day.
Although also a bit embarrassing, I’m terrible at spelling and grammar (anyone who reads Good Karma Blog will know this already
) which means he saw all my mistakes, NOOO…..
I’m glad he liked it, he said on his Twitter account
I enjoyed this review of Birth of a Killer a lot!
