Got a New Second hand Car
My Hubby got a new second hand car today. Our first car was a daewoo Matiz 0.8 liter engine.
That little car lasted us 9 years, but a daewoo can be a bit scary to drive, you do a lot of praying hopping you can pull out into traffic, you have to rev the bollocks off it to do the maneuver, passing other vehicles was a nightmare and hills where scariest of all if it was a steep incline then you could push it up the hill faster than the engine would carry you
We did love our Matiz though, but it was time for a change. I chose a Hyundai Getz after painstakingly searching the Internet for every car we could afford on the forecourt.
Walk on Beach
Had a great walk on the beach today collected some drift wood, shells and stones from the beach to make a college later with my son.
Took some great photographs before my batteries ran out.
Having a good day today :-)
First thing that made me happy today might seem daft to some, but I’m excited because I saw a gnat flying about outside my window which means the weather’s warming up and springs not far away.
My son and I went to a local arcade and had a few games of pool, I managed to pot the white ball 12 times in one game
if potting the white ball was apart of the game I would have won
we had a good laugh at my expense !
One of the employees at the arcade said before we left that it’s unusual for a mum to have a game of pool with their son and every time we leave were always happy and bubbly
that cheered me up.
I made my husband smile today :-)
I made my husband smile today
We share chores and one of our arrangements is that I unload the dishwasher and he loads it.
When I have unloaded the dishwasher I normally tell my hubby so he knows to load it, but he claims I don’t (more like tuning the little misses out), so today to make sure he definitely heard me I sang a song and did a little dance telling him I had definitely unloaded the dishwasher this time round- a sort of Broadway number, but without the feathery boas and sequined dress
.
Best thing was my son joined in, so my hubby had two people making a song and dance telling him I had unloaded the dishwasher
Strange Blackbird Behaviour
We have a female blackbird who has claimed our window box, she keeps chasing other birds away from the food I put out when she visits our garden.
Today she did the strangest thing instead of leaving at dusk to nest down for the night like other blackbirds do, she sat in the window box until it was fully dark outside strangest behaviour I’ve ever seen? she was in the window box hours we thought she was planning on staying the night, but she left in total darkness my son snapped a photo of her though the window. She normally flies away when we go to the window, but this evening she just cocked her head at us and didn’t seem bothered. I’m totally bewildered by this female blackbirds behaviour? Cool though our son was mesmerized watching her
.
Winter Walk Photographs
It was a warm-ish sunny winters day today and me and my son ventured outside and took a walk to our local park where we had a nice slow walk and took pictures of birds and plants.
My son spotted a Redwing
I haven’t seen a Redwing in years.
Redwings normally prefer the countryside, but the UK has had a cold winter this year with snow covering the ground for much longer than usual and it has forced the Redwings and other migrant birds into gardens and parks looking for food.
I included some of the pictures we took today, but we didn’t get photographs of all the birds we saw like Goldfinch and bull finch there too small and fast to catch on camera and it was much to cold to hang around to see if we could snap a picture
Fun in the Snow
Had a great day today:-) it snowed last night so I went out side to play with my youngest.
I spent 2hrs out there I haven’t had that much fun in ages we built a snow man and played loads of snow games.
we had a snowball-fight, played a target game, threw two snowball and tried to smash them in the middle, we threw one snow ball between us until it disintegrated, threw snowballs at the house to see who’s snowball went the highest I felt like a kid again
.
My son and I tried to threw snowballs at a bucket trying to knock it over, but we where that bad a shot we ended up throwing them in the bucket, so we changed the game to throwing snowballs in the bucket and we kept knocking it over, Go figure
We had a right laugh.
Robin Red Breast in the Garden.
Today I saw a Robin in my Garden YAH!
I have been feeding the birds all winter in the hope of having a Robin visit my garden. Robin Red Breasts are very shy and I thought I might not attract a robin because the bird feeder is right outside a glass door that’s in our living room and we’re constantly walking passed.
Me and the Robin scared each other at first. I was tiding up and walk towards the window when I saw him, I froze on the spot. The Robin Red Breast stared at me for a long while, then went back to feeding.
Found Bird Ring in a Bird of Prey’s Pellet
Not sure if you would call this a happy memory, but it is an interesting one.
About a month ago I opened up my backdoor and was confronted with lots of feathers blowing in the wind and the top and bottom beak parts of a bird and on the floor and a mysterious slimy fluff ball.
We didn’t know what had killed the bird and we speculated, because the feathers looked as though it had been plucked and there was no carcass in sight that a bird of prey must have been eating it’s dinner on our roof.
Planning a Small Garden
Woke up on the 1st day of 2010 to glorious sunshine it was so warm today (it was snowing yesterday) the warm sunshine through the window inspired me and my son to go outside and plan our small front garden for spring, it’s just soil at the mo.
We decided to have a wild flower garden for the butterflies and insects in summer where going to draw some plans in the next few days.
