London Marathon 2011
It’s the London Marathon time once again as runners ran the gruelling 26.2 miles through London.
My favourite part of the London Marathon has to be the Fun Runners
I look forward to seeing theirs crazy costumes each year.
I don’t envy them one bit, temperatures in London reached 19 Degrees during the race, I can only imagine the temperature inside a funny suit. Must be like running in an oven
Quiet a few World Records where set this year by the London Marathon fun runners Like David Stone AKA ‘Superman’ who broke the world record for running the fastest time in a super hero costume, he crossed the finishing line in 2:42:46
Germany’s Annual Office Chair Down Hill Race
I love weird festivals and events that takes place around the world and in Germany the third annual office chair race took place in Bad Koenig.
If hurtling down hill on an office isn’t insane enough competitors have to speed over ramps and jump through out the course.
Adorning crash helmets the ‘riders’ reach speeds of 35 kilometers per hour down hill on a 200 meters course
64 competitors from all over Germany took place in the event.
The office chairs where modified for the event with some really weird looking racing chairs and riders who dressed up for the occasion.
Shame I live in the flattest part of Britain or I’d might give that a go myself, LOL.
German Girl is ‘Cow’ Riding Jockey
Every little girl at some point in her life wants a pony, well German girl Regina Meyer decided if her parents wasn’t going to get her a pony she was going to ride a cow instead
I wish I have thought of this when I was younger and my parents told me I couldn’t have a horse, but then again I didn’t live on a farm either
Maybe I could have rode the family Cat
This 15 year old girl has taught Luna the cow to jump hurdles and although she will not be winning any races Regina and Luna go for long treks in the German countryside together
Captain Kirk Wakes up Astronauts on Discovery on her Last Mission
The Discovery Space Stations Last ever flight was March 2011
Crew aboard the Discovery space station are usually woken up to Music, but to mark the history of discovery before she is retired and returned back to earth the crew was woken up to a special messaged recorded by William Shatner
Set to the theme tune of Star Trek William Shatner recorded the iconic words of Captain Kirk, but with a slight twist for the crew of Discovery who where on their last Mission aboard Discovery.
The star of Star Trek words to discovery were:
‘ Space, the final frontier ‘
‘ These have been the voyages of the space shuttle Discovery.’
Giant Panda Cub Debut in US Zoo
So cute
If you don’t think ‘Argh’ while watch this video at least once, there’s something wrong with you!
Did they name the giant panda cub ‘POO’ or did I miss hear!, I’m hoping it was just the voice over on the video.
Poo is probably a great name in China, but not in English, It’ll make him memorable though to the kids
Giant Pandas are the only Animal I can think of where the adults are as cute as their Babies.
This Giant Panda Mum sure is giving her baby a run for it’s money in the adorable category
Record Breaking Paddling Pool Dive
My heart stopped while I was watching this, One crazy American
can’t help but love his spunk (do they still say spunk in America?) OK I’ll go English ‘spirit’.
A US man from Colorado called Darren Taylor who is also known in Norway as Doctor Splash, dove 36ft into a paddling pool containing only 12 inches of water!
Breaking his own world record.
It’s no surprise to hear Dr Splash is a professional stunt diver and has had 25 years of diving experience.
His World record paddling pool dive is actually his 13th Guinness world record.
Darren took his dive in Trondheim, Norway in the freezing cold temperatures.
BBC Odd Box – Strange and Wonderful Good News Stories
One of my favourite programs is Odd Box that comes on the BBC News channel on Saturdays.
Odd Box is filled with little clips of funny, weired and wonderful good news stories from around the world to brighten your day.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if each of the little clips in Odd Box was a full news story. It’s my dream that one day the news media will come to their sense and report on Good News as vigorously the rest of the news.
lets face it we need a little light hearted fun after 24 hours everyday of bad news filling up our air time on with the obsessive nature of the media, who are obsessed on relentlessly ramming down our throat a continuous loop of bad news, that quite frankly gives you a head ache after watching the same 6 news stories all day
75 Year Old Lady Tackles Criminals Alone on Street
Everyone should live up to the courage of this little old lady.
An old lady in the UK Tackled thieves armed with base ball bats and crow bars while passers by just watched.
6 armed thieves tried to brake into a busy high street jewelry store in broad daylight, passers by just watched or casually walked by while the thieves tried to smash the shop windows.
With amazing speed, a brave 75 year old lady ran across the road and confronted the thieves head on with her handbag
She managed to surprise the criminal long enough for them to get very little from the jewelry store and panic two of them who fell off there get away motor bike.
Big Society – Egyptians Clean Streets After Protests
This is Fantastic.
The Egyptian People after demonstrating for 12 days in Tahrir Square for the removal of their dictator Leader Mubarak, pulled out their sweeping brushes and cleaned the square.
Ordinary Egyptians cleaned and tidied up the mess they created from thousands of people demonstrating for days.
This is fantastic and I couldn’t help thinking there is no better way to show the world how much Egypt means to it’s people.
I couldn’t help think that if this was in the UK we would have left it for the local council to clean up, what does that say about us?
There’s more to a country than democracy and freedom there’s also responsibility for your own actions
Robin visits Co-op daily for Breakfast in Aberdeen Scotland
A Robin has been visiting a Co-Op supermarket in Aberdeen Scotland for break fast each morning.
The Robin flew into the shop through the automatic doors during the cold snap in November and has been coming into the shop each morning ever since.
The little bird sits behind the tills and often sings each day.
The store manager said he often like to watch the staff while they work and eat crumbs. Croissant, Aberdeen rowies – also known as butteries or rolls – and blueberries have become the bird’s favourites.
Mr Dunn, of the Scottish Co-op said “It found a warm spot and must have remembered it.
