My wildflower garden is in full bloom and is covered in bees :)
I’m surprised and so are my neighbors how nice my little wild flower garden looks, all I did was through out a load of seeds and just left it.
It looks really beautiful and every day there’s a new flower burst into life, my garden has become a talking point for passers by which is nice, usually their commenting on how bad my house looks (I’m renovating).
The main reason for creating a wildflower garden was for the bees, the bee population decline is very worrying and I wanted to do my bit to try and help there declining numbers.
I’ve been meaning to create a wildflower garden for a couple of year, but I’ve always been so preoccupied with the house renovation, so this year I set aside some time and made it a prioraty.
I have to say just walking past gardens in the street there are a lot of homes with concrete gardens and drive ways and if there are plants in these stone and mortar oasis, there usually bushes and shrubs which don’t flower, don’t get me wrong since bushes and shrubs are good generally for birds there no good for bees.
If every house hold in the UK had a pot of flowers or a hanging basket or window box just looking at the wildlife on my little patch of soil it would make a huge difference to depleting numbers of bees, butterflies, insects and moths.
Starting my little garden has given me the drive for next year to cover my garden with flowers year on on bit by bit until I have a garden in bloom to be proud of.
I’ve already picked out my seeds for next year :)
My garden is very small and mainly concrete, but I’m going to start building flower boxes over the winter months and attach window boxes to my Garden wall to make a start ready for spring 2011.
My son likes to go out in the garden amongst the flowers and watch the insects, he likes to try and carefully catch hover-fly which keeps him busy, he hasn’t been successful yet though their to fast for him :)
I’ve been a fool to wait this long should have done a wildlife garden sooner! I’m having so much fun.

Hi Mary
I don’t know unfortunately, they look like a species of Viola or after doing a search they could be a primula, but I’m 100% sure :-(
I just brought some wildflower seed and threw it down, anything that popped up is a total surprise.
I’m having the same problem last year I got some beautiful orange flowers, I wanted them again but I don’t know what they were.
Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful :-(

Hi, I’m in the same boat regarding this flower. Tossed down some wildflower mix and several of them came up. Cannot find them anyplace and have searched high & low. They’re a very striking bloom and I’m trying to harvest some seeds to replant.
