I got a better picture of a kestrel than the one I posted a few days ago.
This time we were driving down a busy road and my hubby while he was concentrating on a fast road with a Sharp turn noticed a bird land on a telegraph poll in the middle of a farmers field luckily there was a farm track that led underneath the telegraph poll so my hubby drove down so I could get a picture.
Just caught it as it flew off, I only got one shot, but what a shot
I love my hubby and his hawk eyes
If you look in the photograph you’ll see a small bird flying past the kestrel tried to catch it in mid air, he had no luck though the little bird which was a gold finch escaped. The kestrel heart wasn’t in the chase it was just taking advantage of crossing the path with potential prey.
The kestrel flew off because I was taking a picture of it hanging out of the car window
not to go after the goldfinch.
I think I’m having a bird week, got a great action shot of a little egret being chased off by a avocet on a lake,
Saw a flock of starlings down on the big wheel in Skeg, I’m making up the video now to upload and put up on the site later.
I’ve had a close encounter with a barn owl and a tawny owl unbelievable, we disturbed some heron or cranes out of a tree at dusk that was awesome seeing there massive silhouette pass above you is quite humbling and reminds you how lucky we are not to have Dinosaurs flying above us, I’ll stick with the herons
And I got some lovely bird song from a reed bunting, chaffinch as well as a male chaffinch feeding it’s baby which was a real privilege.
This summer I’ve seen so many things I’ve never seen before, again going to be putting up the video later. we’ve had so many experiences I don’t know where to start.
Oh and I forgot to put up my photographs I got at the beginning of June of two avocets mating and the hare and partridge in the grass up close and personal.
I’ve been having so much fun in the great out doors forgot to post on my happy blog, I’ll try to slow down and remember to post
