I’m enjoying the SO Festival at Skegness :)
Went into Levity II this morning, it was awesome.
I had been looking forward to Levity II coming to Skegness, I wasn’t disappointed.
Levity looks like a giant bouncy castle on the outside, but it’s actually an inflatable maze filled with different chambers of light where soothing music is played inside, a great place where you can sit and chill while the world goes on around you.
Levity II has a lovely atmosphere, we had a great time relaxing and bathing in the illuminated light. Levity is a great art installation, it’s a bit like being in the body of a whale, but more pleasant :)
I spent about and hour or two inside Levity, lost track of time and missed some of the things I wanted to see around Skegness during the SO Festival that day :)
I’m glad I went in on the first day of the Skegness SO Festival, when we went in (Friday morning) there was only about 30 people inside Levity II, on the Saturday the queue to get in went all the way down the side of the playing field!
One of the best things about the giant maze was the interactions with total strangers, everyone was smiling and laughing inside the giant art installation, my youngest son seemed to be a babe magnet, but not teenage babes literally bab-IES, he kept having them wandering up to him and sitting at the side of him smiling, they wouldn’t leave him alone. I don’t know if it was his dazzling personality or his hat that they liked :)
People were talking together and taking photographs it was all friendly, with everyone being on the same journey discovering Levity together.
Everyone seemed to be mesmerized by the colours and patterns in the chambers.
We left our shoes outside and entered Levity II airlock where we were told some interesting facts about the strange structure we were about to explore and was given a much needed map :)
Apparently Levity is made from plastic only 1mm thick, it had to be thin so the light from outside can penetrate the plastic to illuminate the inside, it was made in Nottingham (my home county :)) and took 6 weeks to make the giant art installation.
Pretty awesome I really did like it, my eldest son who’s 20 said it would have been better if it was a bouncy castle! Philistine :)
