I got loads of pictures of Lina Eriksson’s work, I think it’s galleries worth :), picking which pictures was the best was hard and I’m sure I’ve missed some.
Lina created three large triangles of art that was featured on tower garden in Skegness during the SO Festival, it was a lot of fun for me experimenting different angles to take photographs of Lina’s Art work.
Each triangle had a mass of images drawn on them, my hubby and son counted over 30 animals on one triangle, that wasn’t including any pictures of people, flowers or shapes etc…
I did like lina’s work on tower gardens which was real art created by natural talent, unlike last year when they got some ‘artist’ who decided it would be a good idea to put loads of plastic ducks and inflatable duck shaped safety rings in the pond on Tower Gardens, what was all that about?
The real ducks on the pond didn’t appreciate it and neither did I.
I like art to be art, not something that comes with a adjective mind field of a story explaining why they ‘created’ there piece of ‘art’.
I do like fun quirky art though like Lina’s, I’m a massive fan of Graffiti, I don’t like tagging I thinks thats awful and ruins the look of an area, but a full graffiti picture can be awesome.
Lina Eriksson’s work reminds me of Poptoon art, which is like pop art but with cartoons.
It’s a shame the SO Festival wasted Lina Eriksson’s talent on producing a piece of art that will be thrown away when the wood gets wet, a couple of the triangles had all ready been damaged when they moved them onto Tower Gardens from other areas in Skeg.
It would be nice if Skegness could have some Legacy from The SO Festival each year like Mablethorpe has with their bathing beauties festival, each year Mablethorpe gets a new beach hut for their seafront designed by leading architects which adds interest to the area, imagine what mablethorpe will have in 20 – 30 years time.
I heard on the grape vine that Botton’s Pleasure Beach offered their wall that goes along the seafront to Lina, but the council turned them down on health and safety reasons, they apparently argued that people could fall into the waterway that is underneath the wall, WHAT! the things we have to sacrifice for idiots.
Since people are not meant to be on that side of the waterway if they fell in it’s their own fault for being stupid, geese the worlds gone mad with health and safety.
Since we moved to Skeg we’ve been saying Botton’s should do something with that wall and when they try too they get shot down by bureaucrats, Sigh….. The world we live in.
It was good to see Lina’s work, I would say over all there wasn’t that much art at the SO Festival you could join in with which was a shame, might have been nice for me and my son to pick up some new tricks and create a piece of art ourselves at the SO Festival, all in all the SO Festival was good this year.
Can’t wait for next years SO Festival, bring on the artists for 2012 :)
