OK so there was loads to see at the Skegness SO Festival in 2011, the big shows might have been a bit disappointing but the smaller street theatre, art and live music on Tower Gardens was awesome.

Funny show we saw was strictly dumb prancing, this talented duo had everyone laughing
A really good little performance and one I’m glad I didn’t miss.

We did miss a few small shows during the SO Festival, but strictly dumb prancing made up for it

Skegness SO Festival is an official partner of the 2012 Olympics and we got the opertunity to see a taster of the performances that will take place during the London Olympics.

One of these shows was Games Time, the fireworks was good the costumes nice, the rest, oh dear! …. since this is an happy blog I’ll leave it at that

I got some good photographs, even though I was right at the back of the crowd.

It’s a shame I’m going to have to wait a full 12 month before I see anything else in Skegness, Skeg only has one Festival a year

These maritime seamen paraded slowly through Skegness during the SO Festival, they would take a few slow paces and then stop and stand still like statues.

The lady in the white coat, in the picture I took, stopped and asked if they where real she hadn’t seen them moving

The reactions of the crowd to something like the strangling can be more interesting to photograph than the main performance, so I concentrate on the crowd as much as the performance and trying out different angles to take a shot

One of the big evening events during the Skegness SO Festival was World Famous Firework Performance – All Hands.

It was OK, nice fireworks and I do love me fireworks so it wasn’t a complete wash out, didn’t understand the message of the show All Hands at one point a washing line was strung across the stage, what was all that about?

There was some nice undies up there though, lovely pairs of pants and a fetching red bra

We missed a good part of the show because we where in the middle of the crowd and apparently most of the action was on the floor at the front?

Seen and done so much this weekend during the SO Festival, there was music and art throughout the town in Skegness.

We saw big fireworks displays and got a taste of some of the acts that will be on in the opening ceremony for the London Olympics 2012, but for me the smaller acts was the gems of the SO Festival.

My favourite performance of this years SO Festival had to be Granny Turismo, three grannies driving around town on segways, disguised as giant shopping trolleys

Their little show was so much fun, I was lucky enough to be at the front of the crowd, smack bang in the middle for Granny Turismo’s show.

There was lots of art on display to see during the Skegness SO Festival, one of our favourites was Jon Legge’s camera obscura.

We had never seen anything like it before, I got some great photographs of our son and Jon the creator .

At the end of the pier was a brightly painted shed in pink and purple stripes, but the real fun was when you went inside.

On first inspection it was an empty shed with a large white panel along one side, Jon Legge closed the door and we were plunged into darkness except for a hole in the side of the shed where Jon placed a lens and before our eyes the Skegness Beach was displayed on the large white panel opposite complete with rotating Ferris wheel.

I’m enjoying the SO Festival at Skegness

Went into Levity II this morning, it was awesome.

I had been looking forward to Levity II coming to Skegness, I wasn’t disappointed.

Levity looks like a giant bouncy castle on the outside, but it’s actually an inflatable maze filled with different chambers of light where soothing music is played inside, a great place where you can sit and chill while the world goes on around you.

Levity II has a lovely atmosphere, we had a great time relaxing and bathing in the illuminated light. Levity is a great art installation, it’s a bit like being in the body of a whale, but more pleasant

We had an awesome time at a murder mystery night, the theme was Hawaiian so we all went dressed up in hawaiian outfits.

We had a fantastic time, I opened my curtains up to a miserable rainy day this morning, but I was still on a high from last night and was feeling happy and Hawaiian

We’ve never been to a murder mystery night before so we didn’t know what to expect, we thought it would be a sort of a party and we would be watching the local theatre group do a play, but it was us who was a character in the murder mystery which was wicked, I love joining in .

I’ve always loved this building, it’s one of the best landmarks in the world, it’s full of colour and I find it to be a confident structure which dominates and stands tall in the the Russian capital Moscow.

I particularly love the flamboyant nature of this fantastic cathedral, I wish in England we had a monument this fantastical, when I was a child St Basil’s cathedral always reminded me of the candy house in the fairytale Hansel and Gretal, there’s something so magical and breath taking about this great piece of architecture that fires the imagination.

Folklore says that Ivan the Terrible, who had the cathedral built, blinded all the architects so they could never build anything like it again.

The world record for the worlds largest Plate of fish and chips was broken in Yorkshire

The fish was a whole fish fillet and weighed a whopping 44 Lbs, it had to be lifted into the vat of oil by three men wielding garden folks, clean ones of course

The giant battered fish was served up with 52 Lbs of chips to hungry crowds who had turned up to the Yorkshire Pub for the occasion.

The staff at the Wensleydale Heifer beat the record that had been previously set by a restaurant in the USA
