We have a racing pigeon on our garden with a broken/damaged wing, it was outside our back door yesterday. At the side of our house gets no sun and the pigeon hopped up our steps that leads to the road walked up the side road and around to our front garden through the gate to sit in the Sun. My hubby was going to bring it in doors in the evening, but it was gone when he went out (too late) to collect it.
Thought we would never see it again, but early this morning I heard a bang on the door and looking outside and saw the racing pigeon sitting on our wall, she seems to have attracted some interest from the local pigeons and it looks like one of them had flown into our window
We gave her a feed and brought her in for a couple of nights, our youngest son looked after her and named her Pidgey
All the info she had on her ring was the number 11, we phoned racing pigeon clubs and the RSPB and the information they were giving us wasn’t looking good for Pidgey, they all wanted to put her down
She was a friendly healthy bird other than her wing!
We gave one last call to our local Seal Sanctuary in the hope of saving her and to our relief they said they would take her
After being examined at the Sanctuary they wasn’t sure if Pidgey’s wing was broken, she had been stretching her wings while we where looking after her, but couldn’t fly.
It looked to the staff at the sanctuary her wing had been punctured possibly by a cat or a pellet from a air riffle.
