After reading the good news story about Martha Payne the little school girl who got banned from taking photographs of her School Dinners for her Blog Never seconds (great name), it got me thinking back to the Play Ground rhymes and songs that I used to sing about School Dinners.
I used to love singing these songs in the school yard, we would be happily skipping, singing them out loud, oblivious to the dinner ladies being right next to us :-) (they used to look after us in the playground at lunch time)
I’ve enjoy taking a trip down memory lane, What was your favourite playground songs!
School Dinners – Sung to the tune of “Frere Jacques”
School dinners, school dinners,
Mushy peas, mushy peas,
Soggy semolina, soggy semolina
I feel sick, get a bucket quick,
Oh too late, I’ve done it on my plate.
Bean, beans good for the heart,
the more you eat, the more you fart
the more you fart,
the better you feel,
so lets eat beans for every meal.
(I still sing this one :-))
Yellow Belly Custard
Yellow belly custard,
Green snot pie,
Mix it all together with a dead dogs eye,
Slap it in a bucket nice ‘n thick,
Then wash it all down with a cup o’ cold sick.
